Inside Mount Measurement Guide

Step 1: Measure Width ①/②/③

Measure the width in 3 places. For width, use the shortest measurement to the nearest 1/8".

Order Width = The shortest of the three measurements

Note: Do not take any deductions for clearance. The manufacturer will take a 3/16"(4.8mm) deduction off the overall width for a perfect fit.

Step 2: Measure Height ④/⑤/⑥

Measure the height in 3 places. For height, use the longest measurement to the nearest 1/8".

Order Height = The longest of the three measurements

Step 3: Measure Depth ⑦

Different types of valances require different mounting depths. Click here to view the recommended mounting depths for each shade type .

Friendly reminder: If the actual mounting depth is less than the recommended value, the valance may extend beyond the window frame.

Outside Mount

Outside Mount Measurement Guide

Step 1: Measure Width ①

Measure width to be covered. We recommend 1½" (3.8 cm) - 3" (7.6 cm) overlap on each side of the window (3"-6" (7.6-15.2 cm) total) for optimum light control and privacy.

Order Width = The area you wish to cover (Window width + 3"~6" (7.6-15.2 cm))

Step 2: Measure Height ②

Determine the location for the valance installation, and measure the height to be covered starting from the top of the valance installation point. (Please note: the height of your shade order includes the valance, fabric, and hem.)

We recommend adding at least 6 inches (15.2 cm) to the height of the window frame to allow space for the valance installation and to achieve optimal light control and privacy.

Order Height = The area you wish to cover (Window height + at least 6" (15.2 cm))

Note: Outside mount shades will have no deductions taken at the factory. They will be made according to your exact measurements.

Align Multi Shades

For shades that are highly uniform or need to be installed on the same wall, it is recommended to purchase them in a single order. Please make corresponding notes so that our factory can produce them from the same batch, ensuring the slats (Zebra Shades), folds (Roman Shades), or vanes (Shangri-La Sheer Shades) align properly.

Outdoor Shades

Before you begin measuring, note any protruding obstacles such as railings, handrails, or exterior wall trims.

1. Measure Depth

Measure the depth of the location where the drapes will be installed.

 Important

For ceiling-mounted drapery tracks, please ensure there is enough flat ceiling space to accommodate the system.

  • A minimum of 5" (12.7 cm) is required for single-layer drapery.

  • For double-layer setups (such as sheers and blackout drapery), at least 9" (22.9 cm) of flat space is recommended.

2. Measure Order Width

Measure the exact width you want the drapes to cover.

 Important
If you want the window fully exposed when the drapes are fully open, make sure the order width is at least 35% wider than the window width.

For example, if your window is 100" (254.0 cm) wide, your order width should be at least 135" (342.9 cm).

3. Measure Order Height

Measure and determine the desired height for the drapes. Recommend ½″ (1.3 cm) gap from fabric to floor.

The order height is the total height from the top of the track to the bottom of the drapery fabric.

 Note

For ceiling-mounted drapes, no deductions will be made during production. The product will be manufactured according to the exact measurements you provide.

How to Measure Angled Bay Windows

Angled bay window
📘 Note:
If your bay window has walls, frames, or trim separating each section, you can treat them as individual windows and measure each one separately.
If the windows are connected with no separation between them, you should not measure them like standard windows. Otherwise, the valances may collide at the corners during installation.
Please follow the steps below to measure your bay window correctly.

Before you begin measuring your shades, first identify the valance depth of your selected product (A1). You can find this information in the reference table below.

Valance Depth Reference Table

W Deduction Reference Table

Next, check for any obstructions that extend beyond the window frame—such as window handles or air vents. Measure how far these obstructions protrude past the frame (A2).

Then, calculate your final A Measurement:
A = A1 (Valance Depth) + A2 (Obstruction Projection)

Angled Bay Window Measurement Reference

Example:
If the valance depth is 3" (7.6 cm) and a window handle extends ½" (1.3 cm) beyond the frame, the combined measurement will be 3½" (8.9 cm). This will be your A Measurement.

✅ What You’ll Need:
Two pieces of A4 or A5 card
Pencil
Metal tape measure
Ruler

Step 1

Place two straight-edged pieces of card side by side and mark A Measurement on the edge of each piece (valance depth + any obstructions).

Step 1: Mark A Measurement on Cards

Step 2

Position the two marked cards on your bay windowsill and slide them toward each other until the A marks on both pieces line up perfectly.

Step 2: Align A Marks on Cards

Step 3

Where the edge of each card meets the window frame, make a light pencil mark on the sill.
Repeat this process for every corner of your angled bay.

Step 3: Mark Window Frame Corners

Step 4

Once all marks are in place, measure the distance from one mark to the next.
This measurement will determine the exact width of each shade you need to order.

Step 4: Measure Between Marks
💡 Tip:
Please select Inside Mount when placing your order.
During production, the factory will apply an additional 3/16 inch (about 4.8 mm) to ensure a safe and proper installation.

Step 5

To measure the shade’s height, measure from the top of the valance installation point straight down to your preferred stopping point—typically the windowsill.
